Jessica hadn’t been feeling like herself lately, or at least not the self everyone thought she was. They pictured her as her sister, an image she’d worked hard to make. An image that was now majorly regretting now that she was older and couldn’t break away from, everyone just saw her as she use to be. How could you break away from something that everyone thought was fully you? How could you become someone new? Jessica wasn’t sure if she could actually do it but she was trying. Oh god, she was trying her hardest. No one believed her though, she was sure of that. She figured that most thought that she was faking to get something from them. That hurt her, even though she didn’t know for certain if it was true or not, and she didn’t know if she wanted to “fake” it anymore. Maybe she should just go back to being like her sister, cold-hearted and a bit cruel. She practically shivered at the thought. Now that she could fully see her sister Hayley, post-mental breakdown and all, she couldn’t even possibly think about becoming her once again. She’d just destroy herself like Hayley did.
So she found herself sitting on one of the tables on one of the warmer days. Once again she was alone as Angela had gone to New York for a trip type deal. She was tempted to call her but figured that she’d just be nothing but a bother to her friend. She wasn’t sure if, like her new outlook, she could handle knowing that she was bothering Angela. So instead she just sat on the table, eyes closed and staring at the sky. The entire time she was practically praying that she could get a do over on her life and not be a copy of her sister. Life was life and do over’s didn’t exist.
The feeling of her cell going off in her pocket made her jump, practically falling off the table when she did so. By instinct she looked around to be sure no one had seen that, as at one point anything like that would have been taken as a sign of weakness. Catching herself at that she shook her head before actually pulling out her phone, she already knew who it was. Her sister texted her almost on a daily basis as often as she could and didn’t care what Jessica was actually doing.
‘Hey.’ the message read. ‘Text me when you get this. Mom and Dad are being terrible.’
She didn’t respond.

(hope you don't mine me joining in? Mike needs to post lol)
It was a pretty decent day in Forks, unfortunately most of the good days that were in Forks Mike spent it either in the shop or at school, what a great life that was. Rolling his eyes he climbed the steps to the school, waving and smiling to various other being's about. The sun was out, shining brightly down on the many busy bodies, he may if he was very lucky get a tan, But the sun wasn't really even that strong. With a small frustrated sigh he shifted his bag on his shoulder and checked his phone, a few missed calls, already!? and mainly only from his mother. As he walked to wards the actual school he caught sight of a few of his mates after greeting them and talking briefly. One of them mentioned that they saw Jessica sitting on one of the far benches looking a bit under the weather so they said.
With a nod Mike waved them bye and trotted off down another set of steps to the main grassy area where many tended to play foot ball, Mike occasionally joined in. Glancing around he looked over the benches before he spotted Jessica, looking to her lap, or what he realized then was her phone. With a small frown he walked over calmly "Hey Jess!" He smiled slowly then, and kissed her cheek, in truth they hadn't really seen much of each other, or when they did at least get a chance to spend time together they were usually interrupted. Which Mike then decided to make a mental note to be perhaps slightly more organized. They had been dating for a long while, their relationship tittering on the edge, they hadn't had a great deal of kisses and cuddles you could say.
Shuffling Mike lifted himself on the table and sat beside her "What's up? your looking a bit down" He mused stating the obvious, he shrugged lightly "Sorry, stupid really, but what's up? did you want to talk about anything?" He offered he didn't really know how to comfort Jessica at time she would either like it or she would more or less push him away, so for now he played it safe and simply sat beside her and waited. "Hey that also reminds me, do you fancy like meeting up this weekend or summit? We could meet round mine or yours go to the movies? or just chill, which ever you like?" he suggested looking to her intently at the very least, as he idly shifted his bag once again dumping it on the bench table behind them.

Jessica couldn’t say that she hated the sun. In fact she loved just about everything about the days when it was sunny in Forks. The darkness and the rain on some days made her practically want to run away and leave the town forever. She figured that when she got old enough she’d leave and never look back. She thrived in the sun. She loved the sun.
But with her mood being the way it currently was, not even the sun seemed to brighten her mood. To start her day her sister had gotten into one of her fits. That ended with them drugging her again. Sometimes Jessica wanted to yell at them to just stop drugging her but others she remembered how horrible Hayley could be and felt like it was deserved. Her parents dished out her revenge. Then she felt bad about the whole thing. How could you want something, anything, bad to come to your own sister? Your own flesh and blood? How could you just want anything bad to happen to them? But Jessica didn’t want to feel regret for feeling that way towards her sister. She’d been through enough, both of them had.
In truth her sister had had everything practically laid out for her. A college education had been set in stone; Hayley had her chance to get out of the town. Jessica still didn’t quite understand why she did it or what her reasons behind it were. She got why some people who had lost everything could try and kill themselves but Hayley had everything! Why in the world would she have tried to kill herself? Well that’s what Jessica thought at the time. Now she knew better. She knew what her sister felt from her parents. The constant pressure, the constant nagging, it was getting to her too. She could feel it eating away at her.
She looked up from the ground where her eyes had been staring at the stones when Mike called to her. A slow, slight smile spread across her face but it didn’t reach her eyes. She wasn’t in the best of moods and even Mike couldn’t completely make her feel happy that day. She just wasn’t in the best of all moods and kind of felt like maybe she should have just stayed home with all her problems. She didn’t want to bother anyone with them, didn’t that sound odd to say, and being at school made her feel like she was exposed to the world.
“Hey,” her voice was kind of soft and timid sounding, as he gave her a sweet kiss on the cheek. They hadn’t spent all that much time together and so they weren’t all that affectionate with each other. In fact, it wasn’t that she felt uncomfortable with it she just didn’t like the idea of all the people around watching.
And then he just had to ask if she was alright. Jessica hadn’t figured that anyone could tell that she was in a bad mood but apparently people had. As he sat down next to her she sighed and debated her options now. She could either tell him and worry about her sister or she could lie. She hated lying to people all the time for someone else’s secret. But they did say that blood was thicker than water and she felt like she should hold to that.
“It’ll be okay eventually,” she said softly. “I’m mainly just dealing with some family problems with my parents and my sister.”
She spoke the truth so that she wouldn’t have to lie to him. She didn’t want him getting mad later when or if he did find out the truth about what had happened to her sister. Jessica didn’t know if she could stand to lose one of her only friends from the world outside her house. That might make her go insane and she’d become her sister. She didn’t want to be permanently medicated and like a blank slate 24/7.
She smiled at his next words of wanting to do something together and this time it was a full smile. The thought of getting together for almost like a date made her feel a little happier. She turned to look at him then.
“That would be great,” she said easily, her smile making her eyes sparkle. “It’s up to you though, since you’re the one who came up with the idea.”
She bumped his shoulder slightly with the last statement to say that it was a joke almost. She’d help him a little but really was just excited about having something to take her mind off the world.

Hey, came Jessica's reply small and light, It was defiantly clear to Mike that something was bothering Jessica, he had never really seen her as down as she was now, and he felt the very need to comfort her in anyway possible. Jessica had always been the bubbly sort always with a smile, Perhaps that had always been her mask? It’ll be okay eventually, I’m mainly just dealing with some family problems with my parents and my sister. So that had been bothering her. Of course Mike had always been aware of the conditions at Jessica's home he himself had been around ttheira few times, and he had noted the tension between the whole family. With a small frown Mike nodded "Oh I see, I take it things still aren't working out?"
Eventually after his offer Jessica's expression changed rapidly he noted her smile was wider her eye more focused and that small cute blush appeared on her cheeks. That would be great, It’s up to you though, since you’re the one who came up with the idea. Mike grinned slowly and laughed briefly"As for what to do..I don't know, we could just meet round mine then we can decide from thier, I think my parents are out at the opera that night, and trust me, anything to avoid that, you'll be far more interesting then watching some fat lady sing" He laughed tilting his head back in amusement. At that comment he received a light nudge on his shoulder, causing him to sway lightly, if not nearly fall of the bench, gently he pushed her back before making a move for her side, tickling it briefly. He then grinned for a moment before he then looked to Jess. "You know my parents don't mind you staying at mine, if you like, ever have trouble at home again, your welcome to stay round, if you want." He shrugged softly trying to be as helpful as he could.
In all honesty he wished that he and Jessica were closer, if not slightly more affectionate in public, yet Mike knew just how shy Jessica seemed to be in public when it came to such things, perhaps though with the possibility of he and Jessica going around his house when his parents were out they could perhaps develop their relationship further? Get to know each other just that little bit more too? Although he had never really said it out loud to Jessica, he did in fact love her more then he could really comprehend or even admit it. Perhaps he was to shy to say it? or was he too worried about his reputation, but then he thought why did it really matter? He hoped Jessica knew that he loved her, whether he could admit it to her or not he didn't know, but eventually he decided that he would say it out loud and to Jessica's ears alone, she deserved it. With all that was happening at her home Mike only felt obliged to help her, to comfort her at the very least.
Sorry it's a little short my muse is pretty pft recently

Back when Jessica felt like her entire life was just her and her sister against the world, she’d never known what it had been like to truly have friends. Now that she had Mike and Angela she didn’t know what she would do without both of them. Slowly she was finding out though. Angela had gone to New York and truthfully, Jessica was a little green eyed monster of jealousy over it. The entire trip, she hoped and prayed, would be good for Angela, possibly open her up a bit more. Then again no one could say that Jessica was completely open to everyone.
Mike drew her out of her thoughts by making a move to tickle her on her side. Now she was certain that he knew just how ticklish she was and so went to swat his hands away from her. Still he somehow had managed to get past that. Giggling almost like a school girl she found herself having to hang on to his arms to stay on the bench. All of a sudden all of her giggling faded when they were almost inches apart and instantly she froze. Pulling away slightly after almost a moment of silence, she tucked her hair behind her ear feeling slightly awkward.
"You know my parents don't mind you staying at mine, if you like, ever have trouble at home again, your welcome to stay round, if you want.” Jessica cast him a small smile at this, “You know my parents would never okay me staying at your house. Whether or not your parents were home at the time.” She was getting so tired of her parents protective act after her sister’s breakdown. They were sheltering her to the point of insanity. In fact they’d even taken the scales out of their house thinking that maybe it was an insecurity over weight that caused it and hoped not to cause whatever happened with their youngest daughter. Sure it was the weight, not the whole fact that they both were expected to be perfect! “Thanks for offering though.”
She figured that if things did get too bad for her to handle she’d probably just climb down the tree out her window. Jessica had often wondered why the tree wasn’t the first to go when it came to sheltering them but she wasn’t complaining! Mike’s place was probably, as much as she hated to admit it, well on the way to becoming her safe haven away from her parents.

Since his very first arrival at Forks he had made instant friends with both Jessica and Angela and had ever since remained friends. His hands made contact with Jessica's side and he grinned under Jessica's sudden fits of giggles it was perhaps the first time in a while he had heard Jessica laugh, her laughter was light and extremely girlish, he'd even go as far as to say it was cute. Jessica grabbed onto Mike's arm to save her from tumbling to the ground, with small laughter he held onto her hand in return to support her weight, pulling her up straighter her face faced his own, his blue eyes met Jessica's own his eyes flashed down to Jessica's perfectly pouted lips, he noted absently how far their lips were apart. Deciding to be the bolder of the two Mike made a small shy move to ward's Jessica's lips, only Jessica was obviously going to have none of it for that second she pulled away, her eyes adverted as she tucked hair behind her ear.
Mike slowly nodded with a small smile as if to say alright then. Clapping his hands lightly together between his legs he looked down, he wasn't going to push her, sure she was frigid in public, but he could accept that he supposed, perhaps it would be different if they were alone together. Jessica then spoke softly and Mike raised his head to her to catch her small smile. You know my parents would never okay me staying at your house. Whether or not your parents were home at the time. At that Mike then nodded and laughed lightly, his eyebrows rose and fell briefly, he couldn't agree more, Jessica's parents in his opinion came across all to protective, his parents on the other hand were nothing like Jessica's they were a lot more laid back and 'down with the kids' as his mother still said. If anything in truth Mike would in fact love parents like Jessica's with that he grinned "Oh Hey I know, wanna swap parents?" He chuckled rather loudly.
Thanks for offering though. With a further smile form Jessica's lips, Mike smiled softly and shrugged lightly "Hey no prob, that's what I'm for, good Samaritan me" He laughed with a grin as he very playfully and lightly nudged Jessica's side. Just then a sudden idea came to his mind, his parents were both out tonight, his father had a business meeting and his mother was off out round her friends house for a book club meeting. "Hey, Jes..um" He paused lightly and rubbed the back of his neck "Do you like, want to come around mine after school? we could do whatever homework watch a film and eat snacks if you like want to you know, I mean it's cool if you don't totally cool" He smiled, admittedly he would of course be pretty disappointed if anything he wanted to spend whatever time there was with Jessica, to hang out that little bit more to get to know her all that further in detail, maybe and just maybe work on their relationship?
"So what do you say? I can give you a lift home and we could even rent out a DVD and grab some snacks..unless of course you have something to do or whatever." Mike suggested lightly as he then grabbed his bag and rummaged through it. Eventually his hand clasped around an green apple pulling it out he then bite into the apple and begun to munch on it, swallowing a mouthful he then looked to Jessica and awaited her answer, he hoped that Jessica would agree to come back to his, he hand no initial plan other then to simply spend time with her, the very concept of sex, although much obliged Mike was not counting on it, Jessica was not that type of girl and Mike would most certainly wait. After all the longer you waited the better the result at the end was.

They were sitting so far away from each other that when Jessica finally noticed it she felt kind of bad about the whole thing. She couldn’t let her sister’s problems and her parents control her life forever. I mean sure it hadn’t happened all that long ago but she knew she needed to get past it. Moving a little closer to him and trying to make it not all that noticeable she found herself almost feeling like one of those little kids. The butterfly feeling of anxiety hit her stomach fast and instantly she wondered why she always shut people out. She’d never felt like this before she started to branch out and make friends.
“Hey, Jess… um.”
Instantly she turned to face him and realized how close she’d moved to him when she hadn’t been paying attention. Mike was much taller than her and that was probably a good thing, either that or she would have been right in his face. Instead her head could have only rested against his shoulder if she would have leaned back a little bit. The thought of it all made her blush slightly but she fought the urge to look away and move away.
“Yeah?” she asked curiously, wanting to know what he was thinking.
"Do you like, want to come around mine after school? we could do whatever homework watch a film and eat snacks if you like want to you know, I mean it's cool if you don't totally cool"
Instantly Jessica did the responsible thing and started trying to remember what she had after school for that day. Biting her lower lip and kind of looking past him, she sorted through what her parents had said as she was leaving. She didn’t think that she had anything that she needed to do. Her sister didn’t have a session and neither did the family. So she was good there. Also she didn’t think that there was anything to do with the hospital going on. Those were also big thanks to her parents at their house.
“I don’t think I’m doing anything,” she said hesitantly as she kept trying to think of just about anything that she could possibly have.
"So what do you say? I can give you a lift home and we could even rent out a DVD and grab some snacks..unless of course you have something to do or whatever."
Jessica went to answer but the sound of her phone going off again interrupted her. Making a face of pure annoyance she pulled it out of her pocket only to turn it off without answering it. She was getting dead tired of getting texts from her sister. When she was younger it was kind of nice knowing that her big sis cared about her. Now, it was just plain annoying.
“That sounds great,” she said looking up from her phone to him.
And then, of course, the anxiety hit her in the pit of her stomach. She never knew what to do with him or anything like that. She was never good with all the affections that people seemed to always give their significant other. She just wasn’t use to it at all but she wanted to be. She guessed that she’d just have to learn as time went along.
"So, um," she said softly and a bit breathlessly looking up at him. "After school right?" She wasn't ending the conversation purposely, more like confirming everything like her family always did.

Re: three wishes « Reply #7 on Sept 4, 2009, 2:42pm »
Mike waited for a long moment as he awaited Jessica's reply, and all the while Mike bit into and chewed his apple slowly, ever so slightly Mike noted how Jessica moved closer, which was welcomed he would neither move away or closer if that wasn't what she wanted, with a small smile he tilted his head in the direction of Jessica, his head close to hers the apple clasped between his hand between his legs. Jessica was so very close that all he had to do was lean that little bit closer to her, did she really want to kiss him? was she perhaps ashamed to be in public with him? at any rated he smiled softly in comfort as if to assure her it was alright. Yeah? Jessica finally said her voice soft, her tone shy if not slightly self-conscious.
After a further exchange in words Mike waited once again for Jessica's reply although it seemed to him she was obviously thinking about something, so Mike as he was decided not to question that matter. Just then her phone bleeped looking to Jessica still he saw her glance at her phone before she turned it off, With slightly pursed lips he still waited, for her initial reply, Jessica was extremely attractive to him, he almost liked to think of her as his own in some ways. Mike was the type that got jealous extremely easily and with every male that looked over Jessica he couldn't help but get that little bit jealous. I don’t think I’m doing anything, Jessica finally said with much of a thoughtful expression, Mike of course guessed that Jessica was thinking over her schedule if she had anything at all to do, and Mike hoped against all odds that Jessica was free, for he wanted so much to spend time with her, as a friend and even as a boyfriend, which he had never really been to her.
That sounds great, Jessica said finally, after further conversation she looked up to him once more and Mike instantly smiled "Cool, what movie do you fancy watching?" He asked with pure interest. Jessica's expression changed in an instant, she looked suddenly nervous maybe? he had never really been great at reading people, but Jessica he could just about read, down to every slight twitch. Was she nervous at perhaps going to his home? He could understand that, they had never been alone, not really really alone perhaps this night they could just sort it out tighten their relationship that little bit more, and then just then perhaps they could venture their relationship to public eyes. Mike had never know Jessica to be the shy type, but clearly when it came to their relationship Jessica was indeed very shy. Even more so than himself who was just as nervous as her.
So, um, After school right? Mike nodded slowly "yeah, just hang out at mine and stuff, my um parents won't be in..so you don't have to like put up with their corny jokes" He laughed softly and smiled before glancing down hesitating, they had a while till the bell. As Mike bite of another chunk of apple he chewed it for a moment then swallowed it, he didn't quote fancy anymore, so raising his hand that held the apple he threw it into the bin, where it went straight in. "Um Jess?" He asked then shifting uncomfortably on then bench top. "About us is ah..well everything okay?" He decided to throw the question out in the open it was better to talk about it then and there rather then to wait for a very long time, at least now he had the courage to ask so why not ask?

Jessica always knew that just about every time that her phone went off it was her sister sending some sort of text message in hopes of trying to do something. She never knew quite what it was that the older girl wanted from her. Maybe it was a distraction or an escape from the parents, she didn’t know. All that she knew was that sometimes she herself needed an escape from Hayley. She couldn’t always just be there for her every time she wanted to complain about the smallest thing. Jessica needed a life too.
So when she’d looked up she’d thought she’d seen jealousy in Mike’s eyes and instant confusion hit her. Was he jealous of some invisible person who he thought she liked? Or was he jealous of her ever present sister that never left her be? That was new to her. She’d never had anyone be jealous over her. Well her sister at times but that was different. This was Mike. She wasn’t use to him being jealous over her.
"Cool, what movie do you fancy watching?"
Then again, maybe she was wrong. Maybe he had just been curious. His tone didn’t hold any of the jealousy that she’d thought she’d seen in his gaze. So she shifted her thoughts to movies. None really sounded all that interesting to her. None at all. As she was thinking she heard another question enter her thought process. One that made her feel almost like the lab rat that she sometimes felt like, scared and alone.
"About us is ah..well everything okay?"
That’s when the slight panic kicked in. Was she doing something wrong? Was she failing at being a girlfriend? Everything had just been so stressful at home that she hadn’t even thought about how it could affect her relationship with him. She looked up at him from where her gaze had been on her shoes while she was thinking.
“I think so,” she said hesitantly, hoping that this wasn’t leading to somewhere bad. “I mean things at home are terrible but I thought everything was going good. We just don’t get to see each other all that much.”
She wanted to change that too. She wanted to see him more but there were rules around it. Most of the time to see him she’d end up lying to her parents and Hayley would rat her out. She couldn’t win around there. Nothing she did was good enough and her older sister was now there to point it out.
“And as for the movie,” she said, shifting her gaze back to her hands that were folded in her lap. “I can’t think of any that sound good. Maybe we could just hang out?”

Mike waited and to no surprise Jessica's phone bleeped again. Surely it was not all down to her deranged sister? sure when she had been sane Mike had gotten on pretty well with Jessica's sister but now, it was just irritating, Jessica had a life, and her sister had had a life, what right did she have to ruin Jessica's at any rate Mike could not help the sudden jealousy over it, how Jessica would drop everything for her sister, and even sink as low into depression just for her sister. Everyday it seemed like Jessica spent more time with her sister then with any of the other including himself. Yet as he questioned her, he just barely kept his voice calm, best to try and forget about it.
For a moment Mike was silent letting Jessica think things over, they weren't exactly like a girlfriend and boyfriend should be, they weren't hugely close, they didn't even see much of each other. If Mike was lucky he just about managed to see Jessica once a week. Maybe Jessica just didn't like him as much anymore? and preferred her low and sad family. I think so, Jessica said in reply, Oh, so she thought so? he didn't know what was worse, Jessica barely had any clue of their relationship.I mean things at home are terrible but I thought everything was going good. We just don’t get to see each other all that much. Perhaps Mike could understand that, he had known from the beginning that there was hell happening at Jess's although when he had gone round thier they had seemed pretty nice. Mike had of course felt the obvious tension between them all.
"Oh..right..Just well I know things aren't that great and all, but I don't like see you that much and if you don't want to date me that's fine I understand, If I'm like to much of I dunno..a burden I suppose." He shrugged lightly and then looked to his own hands, he wanted Jessica happy, and he wanted to make her happy, but it didn't even seem like he was even doing that. With a sigh he waited, before Jessica's voice sounded low and undecided. And as for the movie, I can’t think of any that sound good. Maybe we could just hang out? Okay so maybe Jessica wanted them to work, given by her offer, and Mike would only happily oblige. With a small nod he lifted his head and looked to Jessica "Yeah, I'd like that, we can still get some munchies.. maybe order pizza and just talk." He added taking a deep breath Mike bolder then usual lifted his arm to wrap around Jessica's shoulders in comfort. "Hey..Don't worry about it, it'll sort it's self out..and if you want to talk, I'm here for you, I know I'm being all sentimental and that but still" he shrugged lightly and offered her a small smile.

In the deepest part of Jessica she was worried and scared. What was he meaning by this whole topic of conversation revolving around their relationship? Was he breaking up with her? She didn’t know if she could take that though. Running her hands through her hair she tried to keep herself composed, tried to keep herself steady. She wasn’t sure if she could if that was what he was doing though.
"Oh..right..Just well I know things aren't that great and all, but I don't like see you that much and if you don't want to date me that's fine I understand, If I'm like to much of I dunno..a burden I suppose."
Jessica turned to look up at him at his words. She shook her head and slightly placed her hand against his leg. She didn’t want him to think that she didn’t like him. She didn’t want him to think that she didn’t want him. It was the complete opposite. She practically needed him.
“That’s just it, Mike,” she said softly, her face softening even as she spoke. “You’re about the only thing keeping me around here.” Running both her hands through her hair again she internally cursed herself for not wearing a hair tie. “See, I’ve been wanting to get away from here for so long. I’ve just caught myself driving in some random direction out of town. Then I realize that I can’t leave.” She looked up to look him directly in the eyes. “I can’t bring myself to leave you behind. I know we’re not around each other all that often and I feel like that’s my fault but I don’t want to break up. That’s the last thing I want to do.” She was slightly excited by the idea of going over to his house. It was just another excuse to stay as far away from her family as possible. Her parents were okay. Up until they started ordering her around and locking her in her room that is. She knew that they’d practically lost it when her sister had and maybe everyone in her family had. Still she thought some time away from it all would do her some good.
"Yeah, I'd like that, we can still get some munchies.. maybe order pizza and just talk."
With a smile, Jessica looked up at him and her smile brightened when he put his arm around her. “Pizza sounds good,” she said poking him in the side. “But talking, talking sounds better.”
"Hey..Don't worry about it, it'll sort it's self out..and if you want to talk, I'm here for you, I know I'm being all sentimental and that but still."
With a small but loving smile, Jessica leaned back against him and into his hold as much as she could. She didn’t want to think about her family at that moment, she’d admit that in a heartbeat. But thinking about him, now that she could take just fine without a problem. Placing her hand on his chin she pulled him in for a small kiss. He was being so sweet that she just couldn’t resist at that moment.

That’s just it, Mike, Jessica begun, her voice quite, that he had to practically strain to hear the words, none the less he looked to Jessica simply, If Jessica wanted to talk then he'd listen, he hated seeing Jessica upset, she was a completely different person at times. Quietly Mike watched as Jessica's expression changed. You’re about the only thing keeping me around here. With a small frown Mike nodded as Jessica played with her hair in a nervous fashion, she had always played with her hair when she was nervous, as far back as he could remember See, I’ve been wanting to get away from here for so long. I’ve just caught myself driving in some random direction out of town. Then I realize that I can’t leave. I can’t bring myself to leave you behind. I know we’re not around each other all that often and I feel like that’s my fault but I don’t want to break up. That’s the last thing I want to do.
Meeting Jessica's eyes he sighed softly, OK so he hadn't expected that much of an in depth reason for Jessica to stay, but he could understand to some level, was that what love was really like? Many people said to others 'I love you' but did they know the meaning of it? Perhaps Mike was just understanding it, did being in love mean that you could not stop thinking about your girlfriend or boyfriend? when you were practically attached at the hip? at any rate, Mike was more or less convinced that he did honestly love Jessica, everything about her was cute, he couldn't stop thinking about her and the kisses? they were amazing. A few moment passed before Mike eventually spoke," You know we could always go away together, we don't have to stay with our parents and that, we could like rent a flat or something..not saying we have to but I mean if not that then come stay round mine?" he offered concerned about Jessica, she was a great girl and funny too, she deserved better.
At any rate it seemed it was decided that Jessica was going to come back around his after school. With his arm around Jessica he hugged her to his side lightly and grinned in return as she spoke Pizza sounds good. But talking, talking sounds better. Tilting his head back he laughed loudly as Jessica's poke touched his side, he grinned and wriggled lightly yet kept his arm around her shoulders. Looking back to Jessica he felt her small soft well maintained hand capture his chin with a grin, he was surprised then to feel Jessica's lips brushed against his lip in a small gentle kiss, returning it, he opened his eyes and almost blushed "Well, hm, so mine after school yeah? and I can like drop you of home later? and I can pick you up for school tomorrow too, give you a lift" Mike grinned broadly, pressing his lips to Jessica's cheek softly. Hugging her tighter to his side.

Her confession to him made Jessica’s nerves flare up big time and she found herself curling the ends of her hair around her finger, staring at them for a moment. Her eyes met his a couple of times but she still felt the nerves spiking throughout her entire body. No, she wasn’t the same girl she use to be. She had been reduced to something, someone, completely different. She got nervous easily and she felt worried almost constantly. As much as she wanted to say that this was something that her sister’s breakdown had brought on, she’d be lying more than if she said that her hair wasn’t brown. She’d always felt the insecurities. She’d just never shown them. “You know we could always go away together, we don't have to stay with our parents and that, we could like rent a flat or something.”
His words were oh so tempting to her and she wanted to just take them and run with them. Forget everything that they both had going for them here and just run. She wanted to just get in his car and drive off without a care. But she knew that she couldn’t do that, they both had way too much going for them. As her mind was rushed with these thoughts, shaky hand slid through her hair as she tried to keep her mind out of the fog that it was heading into. She would be free of her parents, her sister. She would be free from it all.
“Not saying we have to but I mean if not that then come stay round mine?"
Jessica looked up at him at that. She found herself captured by his eyes, unable to think of much. She didn’t know what she was suppose to say, what she was suppose to do. She wanted to go with his first statement and just run away with him, to be with him forever. She wanted to stay with him at his house. She wanted to never let him go. Even after her little confession though, she didn’t feel like spilling her mind and heart to him. She almost felt like she’d scare him off if she did. “I might just take you up on that offer sometime,” she said with a smile and a small laugh. Even if her parents would never let her, she still liked the idea of knowing the door was open.
"Well, hm, so mine after school yeah? and I can like drop you of home later? and I can pick you up for school tomorrow too, give you a lift."
Jessica tipped her head as he spoke, trying to catch everything that he was saying and comprehend it all at the same time. She had a car but it wasn’t running at the moment and so her parents were doing all the driving for her. Either that or she had to ride the bus. Today had been a bus day since her parents were too busy at the hospital to take her to and from school. The thought of doing all of that was so tempting. She’d be spending more time with him too.
“Sounds great,” she said before giggling when he placed a kiss on her cheek. She hadn’t been expecting that or the squeeze that came with it but none the less enjoyed it.

Well so far so good he supposed his and Jessica's relationship seemed to be trundling along nicely now, or at least it appeared that way, Jessica herself looked a lot less tense and stressed as she was only moments ago, at least now she looked a lot more like the Jessica he had known for a long time. He watched silently as Jessica fiddled with her hair, yep defiantly a habit, most of the time she did that, although admittedly most of the time she did it when flirting with him, and now apparently when she was nervous or shy.
Meeting her gaze he smiled softly in attempt to make Jess smile, it was working slowly he thought, now and then he'd see a faint twinkle in her eye at the prospect of running away together, and Mike was certainly all for that, not like he wanted decent grade anyway, for example what would he need in biology, or maths to become a P.E instructor? he doubted he'd need anything other then determination, stamina and patients which he was pretty sure he had, he loved sports, quite literally, he was always running about here and there playing football with Tyler and Eric and the rest of the group, and even if he didn't want to become an instructor he supposed he could fall back on his music, not that he was really any good at it, but he was decent enough he believed.
I might just take you up on that offer sometime, Jess finally said interrupting his thoughts casually, not that he minded. When Jessica laughed, a slow grin spread across his face, Excellent, he was defiantly getting somewhere at least. After his offer of giving Jessica a lift, he looked slightly down to her, as she raised her gaze and her head in his direction. Sounds great, She responded and Mike rolled his eyes. "Well no need to sound too excited jeez" he laughed light-heartedly, of course he was only joking with her, at least Jessica giggled then rather then yelled at him. Which was good. Just then she leaned up and planted a soft kiss to his cheek, and he felt his cheeks lightly redden, and a goofy grin flash on his lips. With small laughter he looped his arm tighter around Jess and pulled her to his side as he brushed a kiss to the corner of her forehead. It dawned to him then he had never really said that he loved her, which he in all honesty did, with a small sigh, he worked up the courage.
"Jess.." He begun slightly, his voice softer and nervous, as if he wasn't already! "I Love you.. you know that right? Mike finally said pulling back as he looked down to Jessica with a serious gaze, his soft blue eyes, meeting Jessica's warm fuzzy and if not wet looking ones. He didn't like seeing her upset, he never had, always the joker him. If you were to give him any situation, Mike was guaranteed to make people smile and laugh, whether it be with or at him, he didn't care as long as they were happy and having a good time.

When he placed the kiss to her forehead she resisted the urge to giggle again and swallowed it deep within her. She was already grinning like an idiot, that should be more than enough. She leaned into him more, feeling more relaxed than ever and almost hating that they would eventually have to attend class for the day. She just wanted to stay there with him forever in that moment, frozen.
“Jess,” she looked up at him when he spoke her name and was almost taken back by the look in his eyes. “I love you. You know that right?”
He loved her? He’d never told her that before! At least not that she could think of right off the top of her mind. They’d told each other that they liked each other but never that they loved each other. For some reason Jessica could almost feel herself want to cry as she let what he said sink in. She’d been so worried that he didn’t love her that she’d never thought what would happen if he actually did. Now all she wanted to do was cry tears of happiness and curl into him, never letting go. All of that felt great at that moment and sounded amazing to her.
“I love you too,” she said softly pulling herself so that she was only inches from her. “I love you a lot.”
She rarely spoke the truth to people with all the lies that her parents had her saying so saying the truth made her feel almost like she should be glowing inside and out. The truth felt good to get off her chest and to say out loud to him. She loved Mike Newton. She may not have had anything in her life figured out but she knew that much. She loved him!
With a small smile she pulled him into her, kissing him as her hand stayed on his neck and the other supporting her on the table. Although Jessica may not have ever been a fan of public displays of affection now was a time that she felt called for it. Her eyes were closed and she didn’t want to let go or pull away. So instead she let him take full control for once. She never let anyone have control over her and now she was letting Mike. New things were happening every day with her recently.
